Nuove Leve: young coffee talents in competition
Passion, technique, and the future. The 2025 edition of “Nuove Leve”, the competition dedicated to young baristas, took place in the prestigious Sala Nugnes of the Municipality of Naples. The event is promoted by the Association of Neapolitan Espresso Masters with the support of La San Marco.
A high-intensity challenge saw students from five vocational schools face off in a timed test: 15 minutes to adjust the grinder and prepare two espressos and two cappuccinos—demonstrating precision, speed, and professional spirit. Supporting their performance was the La 20/20, the official machine of the competition, chosen for its reliability, ergonomics, and perfect adherence to Italian espresso standards.
Standing out among the contestants was Margherita Scognamiglio from the Galileo Ferraris Institute, who took first place, followed by Alfonso Mangiapili and Roman Albutov. A podium that highlights the commitment of a new generation ready to shape the future of Italian coffee culture.
Francesco Costanzo, La San Marco brand ambassador and promoter of the project, emphasized the importance of training in building strong professional skills:
“With competitions like ‘Nuove Leve’, we aim to offer young baristas a real opportunity for growth. The quality of coffee starts with the passion and preparation of those who serve it.”
La San Marco, always attentive to the value of new generations, is proud to support initiatives that combine tradition and innovation, contributing to the spread of authentic Italian espresso excellence
