Leva Contest and Masterclass in South Korea: an overwhelming success
Great enthusiasm surrounded the recent Leva Contest in South Korea, an event that once again confirmed the strong appeal of Italian-style espresso and the timeless charm of La San Marco’s lever technology.
An outstanding turnout
The event, strongly supported by our Korean partners, attracted an impressive number of participants. Many professional baristas took part in the contest, delivering an exciting and engaging competition that also drew a large and diverse audience. This turnout clearly shows how the “show” element of coffee can be a powerful way to bring people closer to the world of espresso.
Lever machines: vintage technology, timeless allure
At the heart of the event was our lever technology, which, despite its historical roots, continues to captivate with its manual mechanics that convey a deep sense of craftsmanship and authenticity. Both baristas and the public were fascinated by the beauty of espresso extraction in its most artisanal form.
A competition taken seriously
Another remarkable aspect was the high level of preparation shown by the contestants. Participants arrived well-versed in the rules and competition system, a clear sign that the event was approached with seriousness and passion. The simplicity and clarity of the rules ensured a smooth and competitive contest.
Contagious energy
Despite the typically calm and composed nature of Korean culture, the Leva Contest managed to spark real excitement. The sense of healthy competition and the spontaneous cheering from the crowd showcased just how emotionally engaging the event became for everyone involved.
Espresso: a symbol of Made in Italy
Espresso, both as a beverage and as an extraction method, proved once again to be a powerful symbol of Made in Italy. This was evident from the many people taking photos with our machines, and even more so from the appreciation shown toward the presence of an Italian barista. The Italian delegation brought an added level of authenticity and credibility to the event.
A highly valuable post-contest experience
Equally rewarding were the moments that followed the competition. Contestants and attendees eagerly took the opportunity to ask technical questions about the machines and the competition itself. This interest highlighted the potential for educational paths and espresso-related training, even for coffee enthusiasts and amateurs.
And the winners are…
At the end of an intense and exciting competition, the winners of the Leva Contest Korea were announced:
Hye Seon Min
Samuel Park
Congratulations to both for their skill, dedication, and passion — true ambassadors of the lever espresso culture.
